The mild temperatures are already reminding us of spring.

The spring weather currently divides Upper Austria into two camps: one is happy and enjoys the mild temperatures, and the other—especially operators of smaller ski lifts—wants new snow as soon as possible.

It is mid-February, and there is little snow in many parts of Austria. Last time, the temperatures even climbed to 20 degrees. It’s quite unusual for this season.

In Vienna, the highs since February 3 are daily above the 10-degree mark, and the end of this series is in sight at the beginning of next week at the earliest.

However, the highest temperatures of the month had already been measured on the 5th and 6th, when in the southern Steiermark and parts of Burgenland, it even reached the 20-degree mark.

According to the weather forecast, the temperatures during the second half of the week do not make large leaps and are above the seasonal average, with peak values usually by 10 or up to 15 degrees. According to meteorologists, although it will cool down a bit at the beginning of next week, a winter break is not in sight.

What will the weather be like in the next few days? On Wednesday, thick clouds pass from the west, and on the Alpine side, it rains a little during the day. The snow limit is initially around 1,000 meters in the inner alpine ranges and rises over 1,500 meters during the day. It dries again in the afternoon in Vorarlberg and the upper Tyrolean region. The sun can still be seen temporarily, especially in the east, with only local fog. With usually only weak winds, the maximum values are between 4 and 13 degrees.
Thursday starts from Upper Austria to the Nordburgenland with a little rain; it is dry and somewhat relaxed in the west and south. In the morning, it generally dries down, but the clouds in the eastern half remain rather stubborn. In the west, however, there is a friendly sun-cloud mix; in the evening, it moves to Vorarlberg. The wind does not matter; with 7 to 16 degrees, it will be milder, especially in the west.
